How small can a V8 be made in terms of liters?

I’ve heard of v8′s so small that they’re the right size for an RC car, but why don’t automobile manufacturers make smaller v8′s that are the standard size for a 4-cylinder? Maybe a 2.2L V8? What do you think the performance specs would be like compared to a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder of the same size?

they do that, check indy car, or cart series power plants size. the cosworth they used to talk about is around that size.
