What is the best new engine i can buy for a 1992 Ford El Derado 25 foot shuttle bus?

I am buying a 1992 Ford El Derado shuttle bus. the current engine has 300,000 miles. i know NOTHING about automobiles and engines. What kinda new engine should i get for this bus and can i put a diesel engine in it?

a diesel will not work if the transmission is automatic, you would have to change the trans. An ISB or ISC cumming diesel would have to fitted to match up. Any F-150 inline 6 cyl would last a long time and should match up better plus have the pulling torque.
