Why is fuel economy of a car worse in winter than in summer?

Answer 2 has a number of things backwards. More, not less, friction causes more energy loss. Lower temperatures result in more, not less, viscosity. However, some argument is sound. However, many experts, including Click & Clack, denies the need for a 5-minute warm. They say that most warming in seconds is all that is needed, just to get oil pressure and oil in motion. (As an example, my New England car with 200,000 + miles from town for the most part and given daily 10-second warm-ups, shows no signs of engine wear.) suspect a more important factor in reduced fuel economy in winter has to do with our habits. In warmer weather we do recreational walking longer distances. We are in a higher gear to a higher proportion of these trips. In addition, the automatic choke fuel adds a penalty each time you start a cold engine. A warmer climate means less time to withdrawal of strangulation. EDIT: The Force also needs much more than move a car through the snow! And in winter there is less light in the northern hemisphere, which means greater use of lighthouses. Other accessories that are used more as well, for example, wipers, defrosters and fan. The weather caused by accidents and the resulting traffic jams will not help either.

Fuel Boss Magnetic Fuel Saver

Fuel Boss Magnetic Fuel Saver

$23.99

FUEL SAVERS – MAGNETIC Tested and approved by an EPA accepted laboratory to increase fuel economy up to 11.6%! Designed to dramatically reduce pollution Fuel injector nozzles stay clean by removing carbon and varnish buildup The cost of these devices is a small price to pay for the money you’ll save, the performance boost you’ll enjoy and the good you’ll be doing for the environment! Your engine will have more power, run smoother, last longer and require less maintenance. Each unit eliminate the need for expensive high-octane fuel and additives (unless recommended by manufacturer). When gasoline remains in your tank over time, the fuel molecules start to cluster. The molecules on the inside of these clusters can’t be exposed to the oxygen necessary for combustion. The result is incomplete fuel burn with the unburned molecules emitted as pollution or remaining inside the engine as damaging carbon/varnish deposits. The Fuel Savers fit easily over the inbound fuel line (straps included, no special tools required). They deliver an abrupt designed magnetic field to break up these fuel clusters, exposing all molecules to the oxygen, ensuring the best fuel burn possible! Each works on every vehicle, every time-;the EPA accepted laboratory test and repeated demonstrations at authorized diagnostic/emissions inspection centers prove it. CARB exemption #D-421. For carbureted and fuel-injected vehicles.

Food and Fuel:

The 21st century appears to be dominated by two major global crises: the scarcity of food and the disappearance of fuel. Through shortages and soaring costs, both have had detrimental effects on the environment and both have undermined the global economy — most importantly, both will continue to do so unless immediate action is taken. This timely and provocative collection of essays explores how and why these problems have developed and what can be done to resolve them. Wide-ranging pieces by trenchant thinkers such as Thomas Homer-Dixon, Gordon Laird, Jeremy Rifkin, Ken Wiwa, Frances Moore LappĂ©, and Anna LappĂ© offer valuable strategies to combat global famine and fast-food fat, business models for safe and sustainable food production and power sources, descriptions of emerging technologies and sciences, a reexamination of nuclear power, and much more. Both remarkable for its depth of thought and eminently readable, Food and Fuel provides innovative, practical solutions for dealing with these urgent issues.

Fuel Doctor Fuel Doctor Efficiency Booster

Fuel Doctor Fuel Doctor Efficiency Booster

$49.99

Fuel Doctor Efficiency Booster Regardless of if your vehicle operates on gasoline or diesel fuel the FD-47 works on the vehicles power systems and is independent of the fuel type that the vehicle uses. The FD-47 works on the 12VDC power systems and is independent of the size of the vehicle. Independent laboratory testing revealed that there was up to a 25% improvement in fuel economy under ideal driving conditions. Will work in RV”s once the FD-47 is plugged into the 12VDC power outlet that is tied to the electrical system that is responsible for controlling the drive engine of the RV. The FD-47 increases a vehicle’s miles per gallon (MPG) through power conditioning of the vehicle’s electrical systems. Conditioned and clean power allows the vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU), fuel injection and engine timing equipment to operate more efficiently. When the vehicles engine runs more efficiently it will require less fuel, produce more power and have reduced exhaust emissions (reduced CO2). As a vehicle matures, the power systems tend to generate and experience more electrical noise or electrical interference. This noise can have many detrimental effects on the vehicle’s systems and decrease their efficiency. The FD-47 simply plugs into the lighter socket/power port and the power conditioning qualities of the FD-47 help to reduce and remove this noise and to restore your vehicle’s efficiency. FD-47 CAN NOT be use on Hybrids or Electrical Vehicles.
