Average Automobile Age

Why is that hybrid cars get gas mileage so bad??
In 2008, over one hundred years of the automobile age, and the best of self manufactureers can go with the Toyota Prius is that it averages less than 50 MPG. Is it me, or is there something wrong here?? I'm just trying get people to think outside the box for once instead of living as they do it all …. Have you heard of the carbureator Pogue?? Vehicles that use what I have 200MPG, and these were ordinary cars, have never heard of Stan Meyer, received more than 100MPG using water (without gas). Hybrids suck in my opinion! I know many poeple that have modified their cars to perform better, get higher performance, and last longer than the car manufacturers could do. I am saying that there are people around the world who know a lot about cars, many of them have achieved 100mpg in fuel vaporizer, fuel heater, water injection etc. So if people community can do, why not car manufacturers do?
Well, there was the Clean Air Act in 1992, which placed more stringent controls air pollution in cars. There have been recent safety regulations (eg safety belts, airbags, pressure monitors tires, bumpers and shock resistance, for example) that have added weight to vehicles. In general, the cars have been getting heavier in the recent years, with more horsepower added, and added standard safety and emissions equipment, and more convienence items in the car. Cars heavier will have lower fuel consumption. It was a big advertising campaign recently, and noted that the Model T Ford managed 25mpg, while the fleet average of 100 years later is less than that … Usually, a hybrid car is improved fuel economy, emissions, and power, which a similar pattern of gasoline only. How much depends on the type of hybrid design used and if it is tuned more for efficiency or power. (For example, design same for both Toyota and Lexus, Lexus, but they are attentive to the face of Toyota for efficiency.) Still, in its size class of hybrid models tend to have better fuel economy of all vehicles offered in the U.S.: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best/bestworstEPAtrucksNF.shtml http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best/ bestworstNF.shtml
