Automobiles By Country
My question is to all Japanese people out there…?
I am planning to visit your country but I don’t actually want to be involved into a group of traveling agency since usually they consist of old people who prefer “planned and scheduled” tours.
What I prefer is to explore Japan by myself and try to learn your culture by actually living in it instead of observing it like in a theme park.
I can find sites of interest from traveling books so there is no problem with that, but still I have some questions:
what is the best way to experience Japanese culture?
Which season is the best, are there any festivals worth participating?
How much money do I need for 10 days? As min as possible.
Where can I find the best sushi, the best ramen, the best rice ball, the best sake?
Is it possible for me to work? (remember I have 10-12 days and I don’t need to be paid. “easy jobs so I can have an idea about the way you work.)
I’m from Turkey and 24, an Engineer working for a world wide known Automobile Brand,if this would be of any help.
Wow, a lot of questions. =-) As mentioned before the best time to visit Japan in general is the spring time and the autumn. I am a native of Tokyo currently living in the United States but will be returning to Japan in Feb.
The spring time you have the Sakura (cherry blossoms) and Ume (Plum blossoms). This spring I was in the cities of Kyoto and Nara and took some great pics of the blossoms. My plan originally was to go to the village of Yoshino for the cherry blossoms but I arrived about a week or so too early. Yoshino has the greatest concentration of cherry blossoms in the world. They planted over 10,000 cherry blossoms on the side of the mountain so when they bloom they go up the side of the mountain. Best Miso ramen in Japan I think is from Sapporo and best tonkotsu ramen is from Hakata. However if you only have about 10 days I don’t think you have time to go to either places since Sapporo is northern Japan and Hakata is southern Japan. What you can do is go to the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum. http://www.bento.com/phgal3.html
“This is ramen for serious connoisseurs, with the eight shops chosen carefully from among the tens of thousands of stores throughout the country. The major ramen capitals — Sapporo, Hakata, Kumamoto and Kitakata — are all represented, along with four legendary shops from the Tokyo/Yokohama area. ”
As for festivals. During Cherry Blossom season “Hanami” flower watching…people usually bring a lot of food and alochol and have parties under the blossoms.Obon festival in mid August is celebrated with outdoor dances and food and game stands. In the summer there is the Sumida River fireworks which is the biggest in Japan and possibly the biggest annual firework festival in the world. About 20,000 fireworks are lighted. Summer is hot and muggy but it is also when there are a lot of festivals. If you are worried about the amount of money I don’t think looking for the best sushi is a good idea. What you should be looking for probably the best value sushi for your money. There are a lot of good Kaiten zushi (conveyer belt sushi) that serve sushi for 100 yen a plate.
About a job you should contact the Japanese embassy in Turkey.http://www.tr.emb-japan.go.jp/
Good luck!
