I have tried to find info on buying a late model (04-06) SUV coming off lease, but have been unsuccessful. Do you have to be a Dealer and attend auctions or are there other ways? Most SUV’s coming off lease nowadays are worth less than the residual amount so most people are turning them in, which should equal a good deal for somebody in the market for one.

In order to buy at a dealer auction, you must have a dealer’s license. But it’s always better to the let the dealer buy it, do all the maintenance and repair work needed, safety check and smog it, detail it and sell it a price that’s way lower than just a few months ago. And some off lease SUVs may even be certified, giving you the remaining warranty covered by the certification.
