How would an E-bomb effect an automobile?

I am currently writing a fictional piece on war and wasn’t confident in my knowledge on E-bombs. Please cite your information.

Ok an e bomb is a small artillery she’ll that sends out a very strong emp ( electro magnetic pulse) strong enough to permanently damage and disrupt all electrical equipment that’s not gaurded against such which is everything except some military technology. Now almost every automobile now has some sort of computer system which controls several systems of the car. The circuitry would be damaged so you can’t start the car and the battery wouldn’t start because the electrical system would be damaged. And mechanical systems too.
