Are car manufacturers BMW and Mercedes luxury in Germany?
In my country (South Korea), BMW and Mercedes Benz are considered upper class, the luxury car brands. Can BMW and Mercedes are also considered the luxury car brands in Germany? What about Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen? Of the 5 car brands (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkswagen), which is the most luxurious and expensive and that is the most economical and reasonable? Why all the answers thumb here is like 10 casualties?
I used to drive a Toyota and maybe buy a (used) Volkswagen (VW or little, as we say) this summer. However, I know many people who drive BMWs and Mercedes. They are considered good, high quality cars, but not necessarily luxury. Save Porsche (or, better yet, a Ferrari), they are just status symbols (whose drivers often have another car for regular use from Monday to Friday), the Germans have a rather rational approach to the purchase of a car. Must be a long-term, good-looking, high quality, and must be appropriate to the tasks that must be met. So many families have two or more cars: Daddy needs one to represent your company (Mercedes), a limo for the family weekend where all children and luggage fit in (Audi or something), and its mother needs a small car to go shopping during the week and bring younger children to kindergarten (SEAT, VW, a small Ford). Those living in rural areas sometimes have the Land Rover SUV or climb mountains with winter snow or mud. BMW and Mercedes is considered a kind of luxury in Germany, depending on model. They expensive high-class models, and moderate prices that are bought by many people because of their reliability. If you were here, would soon learn to differentiate between a standard "BMW" and "elegant." Most Germans also remain loyal to brands that bought first, so once a BMW, always a BMW or a Mercedes once, always a Mercedes. – I think it's a shame that Audi was never really recognized internationally as a good car. Most Audis are beasts reliable load. My brother-in-law has an 14-year-old who never had major repairs, though it was a family and the freight car. Of the 5 brands that you mentioned, here's my ranking of "luxury" in public opinion: 1. Porsche 2. Mercedes 3. BMW 4. Audi 5. Volkswagen (BTW, no "Ford Germany" as well. My first two cars Ford, a feast and an escort. I still like Ford, but Japan buys seemed, at one point in time, more reasonable to me.)
